Update
Proverbs 18:22
He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the
Lord.
Psalm 127:3
Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from him.
It is hard to believe that it has almost been two months since John David entered this world. He is growing up so quickly, and we are truly thankful to the Lord for him. There has been so much that has happened the last two months that it is hard to know where to start. First we are so thankful for all the help that we have received.
Thank you Karen
Leslie’s mom Karen (Granny) was the first of the grandparents to come and visit. I took off from work the first week after John David was born and Leslie’s mom came by for the second week. She was such a great help. She shopped, cooked, cleaned, stocked the freezer, changed diapers, and gave a lot of good advice. She was sad when she had to leave, and we were sad to see her go.
Thank you John
Leslie’s dad John came in three weeks later for a long weekend. We had a great time. He was able to treat us to a dinner out at Tony’s Pasta Shop. We were a bit nervous about bringing John David, his being so young and a bit cranky. Shortly after we got there, Leslie put him in her sling, and he slept through the whole meal. The four of us had a nice evening. John David had his first restaurant experience as well as his first view of the moon. Grandpa Losch’s goodbye was sad as well.

Thank you Church
Flock
After Karen left, our church’s efforts were much appreciated. About every two days for three weeks, we had a meal prepared for us by one of the women in the church. The amount of help that this lended us is almost immeasurable. In most cases, the meals were large enough for us to have them for more than just dinner.
The Family update
The three of us are doing as well as any new couple rediscovering life as parents of a newborn. We had several pretty discouraging weeks there for a while. John David had been feeling a bit of discomfort. It took us several weeks to figure out that Leslie’s consumption of dairy products was mostly to blame. After a week of her eliminating cheese and yogurt, he seems to be finished with the upset stomach.
I would say Leslie is just about back to her old self. She has been wrestling with postpartum depression but seems to be doing better now. I believe she is able to rest more throughout the day when she has people around helping out. Last Sunday night she came down with a fever of at least 102. It was mastitis. She made sure John David ate often, and her midwife put her on an antibiotic. She is also better now.
I think I am settling into fatherhood, and below is the proof.
The Top Ten Reasons why I know my
